A dry creek bed is a shallow, stone-lined channel shaped like a natural stream. Most of the year it's a landscape feature; in a Florida downpour it carries water away from the house, patio and low spots in the yard.
Where they help
- Downspouts that dump water against the foundation
- Low spots that stay soggy after storms
- Slopes where runoff is washing out mulch and soil
- Breaking up a large lawn with a natural-looking feature
How we build them
We grade the channel so it actually drains, lay fabric to keep weeds and soil out, then place river rock and boulders in varied sizes so it looks natural. Creek beds pair well with retaining walls and grading work.
